On Friday 13th December 2024 new EU regulations come in to effect, that limit the accessory brands we can sell into the EU single market countries.
The General Product Safety Regulations (GPSR) introduce new rules for all products in the single market, and whilst we have been able to make the necessary changes to continue selling our own Wizard Works products beyond Friday, the following brands have not:
- Campandgoslow
- Carradice
- Dr J0n
- Safety Pizza,
- Tumbleweed
- Voile
- Widefoot
As of today we are unable to sell these brand’s products to customers in the EU and single market countries. For some of the brands we sell hopefully this will be only temporary, but for the smaller accessory brands there is a possibility that we will not be able to sell them into the EU or Northern Ireland at all 🙁
While we welcome any regulation that makes things safer for the consumer, it’s disappointing that we, and seemingly every other small business we know, only found out about the changes in the last two weeks even though the law was passed in the middle of last year. 18 months (or even three!) would have been ample time to make all the necessary changes, but to meet compliance in two weeks posed a huge challenge
The changes that have been made are not outrageous, but like most of these things, they will hit small businesses the hardest. Small businesses account for 99.8% of UK businesses and many rely on EU export to survive, the lack of information or support to navigate these changes from our government has been (perhaps not surprisingly) tremendously poor.
Big love from us,
